Voter Registration Forms and Information

You can register to vote using the state voter registration form or the federal form. To vote in an upcoming election, you must be registered at least 29 days in advance. You must provide documentary proof of citizenship (“DPOC”) to be eligible to vote a full ballot, which includes federal, state, and local elections. If you don’t have DPOC but you are a U.S. citizen who is otherwise eligible to vote, you can register using the federal form, which will register you to vote in only federal elections (U.S. Congress and U.S. President).

If you initially register to vote by using the federal form without providing DPOC, you can become eligible to vote a full ballot (which includes state and federal elections) by providing DPOC to the county recorder before 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. If you use the state form but don’t provide DPOC, then your application will be rejected and you will not be registered to vote.

Examples of acceptable forms of proof of citizenship include:

  • An active Arizona Driver License or Non-Driver Identification Card number issued after October 1, 1996
  • Tribal I.D. number
  • Alien Registration, Naturalization Certificate, or Citizenship Certificate number
  • A photocopy of a U.S. birth certificate, passport, or passport card.
