PHOENIX, AZ—American Indians who are enrolled in Medicaid coverage from the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) will have new integrated health plan choices when AHCCCS Complete Care (ACC) begins Oct. 1, 2018. Under AHCCCS Complete Care, the American Indian Health Program (AIHP) and AHCCCS managed care health plans will provide “integrated care,” or single health care plan options for all physical and behavioral health care services.
Integrated health care plans streamline services for members, allow health care providers to coordinate care and work together to treat patients holistically, and ultimately achieve better health outcomes.
As always, American Indians members can choose to change enrollment between AIHP (available statewide) or ACC managed health care plans at any time. They may also receive health care services from an IHS/638 facility at any time, regardless of enrollment choice. AIHP members who are enrolled with a Tribal Regional Behavioral Health Authority (TRHBA) will still have that behavioral health option. Members who receive Children’s Rehabilitative Services will receive those services from AIHP or their ACC health plan. Members who have a Serious Mental Illness designation will have no changes in service. They will continue to receive behavioral health services through a Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) or Tribal RBHA (where available).
American Indian members who are currently enrolled in an AHCCCS managed care health plan will be automatically enrolled in one of seven new ACC plans as of October 1. For those members whose current plan will become an ACC plan in their service area, this means no change. The new health plans are available by geographic service area (GSA):
