Important Changes Coming to AHCCCS (Medicaid) Eligibility

Don’t risk a gap in your Medicaid or KidsCare coverage. Take action now!

PHOENIX—Do you or a family member currently have health coverage through AHCCCS, Arizona’s Medicaid program or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (known as KidsCare)? If so, you may soon need to take steps to find out if your coverage can be continued.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, AHCCCS has not disenrolled most beneficiaries (unless they’ve moved out of state, voluntarily disenrolled, aged out of KidsCare, or died). Soon, Medicaid and KidsCare disenrollments will begin again. This means some people with Medicaid or KidsCare could be disenrolled from those programs because they no longer meet financial or medical eligibility requirements.

AHCCCS estimates that approximately 500,000 currently enrolled adults and children will need to complete a renewal to determine continued eligibility. To verify eligibility, AHCCCS may need additional documentation from you and will contact you via U.S. mail, text messages, and direct phone calls.

What AHCCCS Members Can Do Today
Here is how AHCCCS beneficiaries can prepare for eligibility renewal:

• Make sure your address is up to date. Log in to www.healthearizonaplus.gov to update your mailing address, phone number, email, or other contact information, or call 1-855-432-7587.
• Respond to requests for information! If you have received a letter from AHCCCS requesting information, please respond right away. This may help you avoid a gap in your coverage. For help, contact your health plan or a Community Assistor organization.

What AHCCCS Members Can Do When the Pandemic Ends

• Check your mailbox. AHCCCS will mail a letter about your Medicaid or KidsCare coverage. It will confirm your renewal or ask you for more information. To check the status of your renewal, log in to www.healthearizonaplus.gov.

Help for Those Who No Longer Qualify for Medicaid or KidsCare
