The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) received Platinum level recognition for the fourth consecutive year from the statewide Healthy Arizona Worksites Program for demonstrating data-driven programming and leveraging cross-sector collaborations to improve the health, well-being and equity of employees and the community. The Platinum level award recognizes organizations for addressing health challenges impacting communities across the state.
“With 74 percent of AHCCCS employees now working remotely full-time, maintaining a healthy worksite requires even more focused effort,” said Jami Snyder, AHCCCS director. “The AHCCCS Healthy Living Committee was instrumental in creating opportunities to help employees connect virtually and in-person, and promoting the message that a healthy workplace is no longer a physical environment, but an attitude that our employees bring with them wherever they are.”
The AHCCCS Healthy Living Program, now in its sixth year, encourages fitness and exercise, general nutrition, knowledge and education, community support activities, and awareness of whole body health. Scheduled physical activities include mindful meditation, weekend walking and hiking, and sponsored community walks in support of various health-related causes. In addition, online resources like healthy recipes, mental health resources, and health fair and screening opportunities, help all employees improve their health and well-being.
The Healthy Arizona Worksites Award, a public health initiative offered by the Arizona Department of Health Services and the Maricopa County Department of Public Health, recognizes employers that are making efforts to positively affect the health and well-being of their employees, their families and their community by implementing comprehensive worksite wellness strategies.
