On Nov. 2, AHCCCS released the AHCCCS Complete Care Request for Proposal (RFP) which will integrate physical and behavioral health care contracts under managed care plans for the majority of the 1.9 million AHCCCS members. Integrated delivery will offer a more cohesive health care system for members, incentivize quality health care outcomes with value based purchasing, and leverage health information technology for improved care coordination. Proposals are due on January 25, 2018, and multiple contracts will be awarded on or before March 8, 2018 in the three geographic services areas in the state. Implementation is scheduled for October 1, 2018.
Integrating physical and behavioral healthcare contracts will drive several strategic, innovative health care initiatives forward. With these contracts, AHCCCS strives to improve payment systems, encourage participation in electronic health record sharing, reward providers for positive health outcomes, provide coordinated care to inmates as they leave the justice system, impact services for foster children and those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and create more access to treatment for opioid and heroin-addicted patients.
At $50 billion dollars over seven years, the AHCCCS Complete Care contracts are the largest procurement in the history of the State of Arizona.
