PHOENIX, AZ – The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) introduces Jami Snyder as the state Medicaid agency’s deputy director. Snyder previously served as the Medicaid director for the state of Texas on behalf of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, overseeing a $29 billion program serving 4.7 million people.
“We are excited to welcome Jami to AHCCCS. She is a dedicated healthcare policy and administration expert with a proven leadership track record that will help guide our operational efforts to move toward a fully integrated managed care Medicaid program,” said Tom Betlach, AHCCCS director.
Snyder brings 20 years of public and private sector health care experience to her new role where she will oversee daily administrative and program operations, manage budget and resources, initiate program improvement, and plan institutional effectiveness.
No stranger to Arizona’s healthcare landscape, Snyder previously served the citizens of Arizona in roles at AHCCCS and the Arizona Department of Health Services, and in the private sector as a leader at the University of Arizona Health Plans, a division of Banner Health.
Snyder holds a Master of Arts in political science from Arizona State University and a B.A. in political science from Gustavus Adolphus College.
