Opioid Treatment Programs
An OTP is any treatment program certified by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to provide medication-assisted treatment for individuals who are diagnosed with opioid use disorder. These treatment programs are authorized to administer and distribute all forms of medication assisted treatment, methadone, buprenorphine (Suboxone/Subutex) and naltrexone. Additional services within the OTP can include case management, peer support, individual counseling, group counseling and other types of support services for the individual.
Getting Help for Opioid Dependence
AHCCCS is implementing new standards and reporting requirements for all Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) receiving Medicaid reimbursement. See the OTP Requirements web page.
Office Based Opioid Treatment (OBOT) Programs
OBOT programs allow for qualified primary care physicians to provide opioid treatment services in their office based settings. Federal guidelines allow qualified physicians in the OBOT to prescribe medications for opioid use disorder in their office setting, but it is required that the physician has the ability to connect their patients to the appropriate level of counseling and other appropriate support services.
Peer and Family Support Services
Peer and Family Support Services are offered by agencies throughout the state of Arizona. Individuals interested in becoming credentialed as a Peer/Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) may inquire with any agency on this list for training availability. Individuals must meet qualifications per AMPM 963 to be eligible for training.
We collaborate with Providers and Community Members to ensure peer support and family support services are available to all persons receiving services and their families.
For more information about Peer and Family Support Services, visit the Office of Individual and Family Affairs webpage.
